Happy Birthday Sean Alex!

Three years ago today
A sweet soul joined us on earth
Helpless and small
Tubes, wires and alarms
Spirit unbroken
Strength abundant
Body battered
Breathing labored
Quiet and
Many tears fell
For three weeks
Our angel fought
To heal his lungs
Where machines rattle
and hum
People poke you
Hurt you
Scare you
Home is where this little one belongs
The great doctor proclaims
With his three brothers
Where the warmth of his parents
Their beating hearts
Will comfort him
and heal him
Home he came
To the welcoming arms
of his family
Where he grew
and grew
and grew
Into the beautiful
Brown eyed
Curly haired
Kissy kissy kissy
Big three year old
He is today

Happy Birthday darling boy!

Gram Gram’s Ranch

We went to Gram Gram’s ranch yesterday,
the boys absolutely love it
they romp and play
dirty faces
scraped knees
climbing higher and higher
up up up the hill
heat up the wood stove
chase away the morning chill
so much to do
so much to see
antiques and fossils
trains and birdies
horses and quads
pictures and bunnies
what to touch next?
the shovel?
the books?
where should I go?
what should I do?
the playhouse?
the rockwall?
the flowers?
mmmm the flowers
Seannie sniffing sniffing sniffing
humming birds buzz
bees do too
wind rustles leaves
God is at Gram Gram’s you can feel Him near
the peaceful beauty
the love in the air
the graceful hands
that lovingly prepare
meals for us
and make us feel dear
everything is special at Gram Gram’s
so perfectly placed
pictures of us
lovingly grace
mirrors and walls
sconces and halls
cowboy music plays on and on
paw prints! paw prints!
do you see?
In Gram Gram’s tile floor..1,2,3
Where did she find these wonderful things?
arrowheads and old old books
fossils and rocks
skeletons of animals
paintings of indians
a butter churn?
A grand patio built by Uncle Gary
Lovely rocks placed by Johnny
So many people
So many souls
touched by the beauty
of Gram Gram’s ranch
all of us love it, young and old.

The Joy of the Morning

The Joy of the Morning

The sun barely rises
the sweet sound I hear
the giggles of boys
coming from near
two little imps
rolling and laughing
in a darkened room
at the end of the hall
the sound of those boys
giving us all
the strength to get up
to face the new day
the joy of the morning
contained in the sound
of two little boys bounding around

Ode to the Breast Pump

Da Pump

The swishhhhh of my Medela
The splashhhh of Bella’s milk
ode to the breast pump I tell ya….whatta lotta bunk!
A strong willed child, my girl
refuses to nurse she does
unwilling to ingest formula
turns up her darling nose
expects her Mama to milk like a cow
day and nite I don’t know how
to continue this six more months
what do I do now?
I haven’t slept the night thru
in almost 7 months
4 pumps a day in order to feed
my sweet girl who refuses to chew
completely happy tho my nipples are blue!
Da Pump is our friend
Da Pump keeps us going
I sleep at Da pump with its pumping and humming
I must truly have lost it
As I have spent now
15 minutes of my time…
being milked like a cow!
